A celebration of music
During the Spring Term, the Junior School celebrated all things musical with the annual Music Festival. 92 girls from Reception up to Year 6 took part in the week-long festival performing a great range of musical styles on a variety of instruments.
A particular highlight was from the Year 5 girls' who worked together to deliver well prepared vocal pieces in a stunning two-part harmony. The Junior School girls' love for music is certainly paralleled by their outstanding talents and it was wonderful to hear such mature pieces from our most junior students at St Mary's School, Cambridge.
10 of the performances were sent through to the finale, held on Friday morning and adjudicated by Mr Alan Rochford. Congratulations to Year 6 pupil Cecilia V-F. who played the piano and was awarded first place for her inspiring performance. Closely following her was the Year 5 vocal quartet comprising Margaret P., Olivia H., Evangelia F. and Danielle V. Securing third place was Year 5 pupil Chloe T., who played the Tenor Horn beautifully.
A special thanks should go to Mr Andrew Severy for accompanying the girls in the heats and also in the finale on the piano, and a huge congratulations to all who took part!
