Senior School Taster Event
Saturday 8 June 2024, 9.00am -12.00pm
Experience learning at St Mary's through engaging, practical taster sessions.
Prospective students can attend two taster workshops during this event. Please indicate your order of preference for the workshops on the form below. We will do our best to accommodate your first two preferences.
Workshop options:
1. Try out sport at our university-standard facilities at Long Road
Join Miss Powell (Director of Sport) and Mr Smith (Head of Junior School Sport), along with our senior school sports scholars and sixth form sports captain, for a fun session of tennis and cricket plus a tour of our state-of-the-art sports ground on Long Road.
2. Step into the arena of intellect and rhetoric with our thrilling debating activity
Whether you're a seasoned speaker or just beginning, join us for an exhilarating journey into the world of persuasive discourse. Engage in lively discussions, hone your critical thinking skills, and learn to articulate your thoughts with clarity and conviction. At St Mary's, debating offers a platform for constructive dialogue, where diverse perspectives collide, ideas flourish, and minds are expanded.

3. Experiment with colourful chemistry in our first-class science laboratories
Come and find out about the chemistry of colour! We will carry out experiments to investigate how chemists use colour in all sorts of ways - from fireworks to forensic investigation. And it's not just chemists that use colour; we will explore some of the colours in nature and ask questions such as 'Are leaves really green?'.
Some of our Sixth Form students will be on hand to help answer your questions, so come along and learn about this exciting area of chemistry!
