Young Enterprise Challenge
Last Wednesday 9 March, seven of our Lower Sixth Young Enterprise students, out of a team of fifteen, attended the area finals for Cambridgeshire at ARM Headquarters in Cambridge. Before the finals the team had to submit a 10 page report about the company, PIXO, outlining what each of the departments had been doing over the course of the year. The company name, PIXO, was devised from the word pixel, as the products the company produces are all based on photographs. The team made drawstring bags and t-shirts onto which they printed photographs, offering customers the chance to provide the company with their own photographs for a fully customised product. At the finals, the girls set up their trade stand as they would if they attended a trading day, and were interviewed by three different judges.
The group then had to give a four minute presentation, providing information about the company, and the highs and the lows of the experience. All the girls in the company worked hard to prepare the company report, the trade stand board, the products and the presentation. Seven girls were able to attend the final itself, and they presented themselves very well, both in the formal presentation and during the trade stand interviews. The group’s hard work paid off and the group won two awards: Best Company Report and Company of the Year. This means that they are now through to the Regional Finals, which will take place later in the year. A huge well done to all of the girls involved – Katie L., Kiki K., Janice F., Estelle C., Raphaella V.D.S., Cherry H., Frances K., Coco I., Coco Z., Kelly Y., Celine J., Michelle L., Yinuo M., Rahimah M. and Éclair S.
