Year 9 prove you're never too old for a day at the Playground!
On Tuesday 14 September, Year 9 went to the ‘Playground’ in Barrow, Suffolk which is an outdoor assault course - 1km long with 25 obstacles. They had a very enjoyable time spending time outdoors in nature and getting to know one another.
Our new Year 9 this year has many new forms with lots of new students in Year 9, and after a difficult year, it was great to get the whole year together - despite the torrential rain! - for a day of team building action.
We were welcomed warmly by the staff at the Playground, and the rain didn’t dampen our student's enthusiasm. The rain got heavier and heavier and the students got muddier and muddier! The enthusiasm was incredible and the students embraced every obstacle helping and supporting one another. The determination to run up a 3m slide was impressive and the staff were amazed by their attitudes and achievements. We ended the session in a large muddy trench where the students were splashing in mud up to their waists but with smiles on their faces.
Having changed they were kindly provided with a well-earned mug of steaming hot chocolate and, even then, it was still raining heavily!
It was an absolute pleasure to take the students on the trip. Their resilience and risk taking was outstanding. They did not mind how wet or muddy they got, and the tutors and Heads of Years were very proud. They showed many High Performance Leaning (HPL) skills and a lot of fun was had by all.
