Year 8 students give impressive performance in the annual Latin play competition, 'ludi scaenici'

On Thursday 25 May, 13 Year 8 students participated in the annual Latin play competition, 'ludi scaenici' held at the Perse school, Cambridge.

The cast and crew (including 4 musicians) had been busy rehearsing, learning lines (in Latin!), making props and inhabiting their characters ready for the performance in the theatre. The synopsis of this year's St Mary's play was:

When Metella complains that Caecilius never remembers her birthday, Quintus devises a plan. However, can a fortuitous interference from Cerberus make Metella’s birthday her best one yet?

They competed against 3 other schools and whilst they did not take home a prize, their performance was extremely impressive, and they should be very proud to have taken part in a highly unique and challenging experience.

Well done girls!
