Year 7 ACE Day - St Albans
On Tuesday 30 January the Senior School and Sixth Form hosted an Academic Curriculum Enrichment (ACE) day. The day provides an opportunity to visit different exhibitions, places of interest, and to learn in different environments. Each year group embarked on an activity unique to their studies and year group.
As part of their History inquiry into why the Christian Church was so powerful in the Middle Ages, Year 7 students visited St Albans Cathedral. While at the cathedral, the students all took part in two workshops that ‘took them back’ to the Middle Ages. One of the workshops saw the girls get into character, becoming mediaeval pilgrims to the Cathedral. In the second workshop the group studied the patterns and imagery visible in the Cathedral. Then, inspired by what they saw, each of the girls created their own imaginative clay tiles out of clay, which they were able to keep as a souvenir.
