Year 5 visit Civil War Musuem

Year 5 spent an exciting day learning all about the English Civil Wars during our visit to the National Civil War Centre in Newark. The girls learnt about how 17th century England was governed and about the lead up to the Civil Wars. Some of the girls also got to pretend to be Members of Parliaments and even King Charles I himself! All the girls then got a chance to be Royalist spies and learnt about some of the clever (and disgusting!) ways that spies carried secret messages in the service of the king. Finally, all the girls were enlisted into the Parliamentarian New Model Army and undertook musket and pike drills before a final battle at the end of the day!
