Year 5 take part in the RSPB's Big Schools Bird Watch
Last Thursday, Year 5 took part in the Big Schools Bird Watch event run by the RSPB. This is a citizen science project that helps to monitor the health of the nation's different bird populations.
The girls watched a live lesson delivered by the BBC and then got outside to count the birds in their garden or local area. They saw many different types of birds including a sparrowhawk. Wood pigeons were by far the most common though!
The girls (as well as parents) really enjoyed the opportunity to get out of the house, and it was great to hear from the girls about the many different types of birds that they had spotted.
