Year 5 discover more about mask-making at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology
This week, Year 5 visited the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology where they were lucky enough to view - and even handle - objects from various ancient African civilisations. Perhaps most excitingly, the girls had the opportunity to make direct links to their in-class learning when they examined several of the Benin Bronzes and learned about their symbolic and cultural importance. They also explored the museum’s main galleries, focusing particularly on the many masks that are on display from across the world. The girls were inspired by the collection and came back buzzing with ideas for their own mask-making in Art!
