Year 5 create boats and dens
This week, the girls in Year 5 have had a lot of fun applying their learning from this half-term. For this week's Science investigation, the girls created their own boats and tested the effects of water resistance. Using the materials provided, the girls worked hard to apply their learning and designed a boat which moved quickly in the water. They then walked to the Lammas Land stream and tested their boats! The girls were able to draw conclusions from their experiment, evaluating what went well and how the design of their boat allowed it to move through the water quickly. They then got to design their own world-record-breaking speed boat! The girls also had great fun in their half-termly Woodland Explorers session. The girls created their own dens, in the style of a Robin Hood hideout, buying their materials from the shopkeeper using taxes they had found from the forest. The girls needed to keep their energy up and so they made and ate chapatis - a meal similar to what Robin Hood would have eaten to keep his energy up to rob from the rich and give to the poor!
