Year 3 pupils enjoy a day of planes
On Monday 9 October, Year 3 pupils spent a fantastic day at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford. The weather was fantastic and the girls began the day’s excitement in the play area; definitely a highlight, with creative play and engaging interactions!
Following this the girls had the opportunity to visit the main hanger and were able to see first-hand some of the incredible, original planes that they’ve been learning about in lessons. The most exciting part of the visit to the main hanger was seeing the Concorde and the Lancaster Bomber; an aircraft used in the Dambuster Raid. After the tour of the planes the girls enjoyed reinforcing their Physics learning about flying.
The excitement did not stop there; later the girls visited the WWII and Battle of Britain hanger and it was great to see the Spitfire and Messerschmitt planes up close. The girls also learnt a little more about The Blitz and bombing raids on some of our cities, notably London; so it was a really exciting opportunity for them to learn outside the classroom.
