Year 3 and 4 explore the great outdoors!
This week's Woodland Explorers from Years 3 and 4 were tasked with using the outdoors as a backdrop for their re-enactments of parables and miracles, as well as for gathering props and resources to aid their performances.
The Good Samaritan and the Parable of the Lost Sheep were very successfully acted out, as was the miracle of the fish and the loaves of bread.
As Vanessa Comyn, Junior School teacher, explained:
"Giving the girls the opportunity to self-direct themselves in their teams brings the best out of each of them, as they learn through play and imagination. A leaf becomes a fish, a stone is a loaf of bread and the roles of good Samaritan, shepherd, and sheep come about through negotiation and collaboration."
"Can we do a sequel?" and "Can we do more of this?" were some of the comments from our enthusiastic directors/actors/improvisers.
