Year 12 enjoy Geography trip to Norfolk
Year 12 had a great time enjoying warm sunshine for their wave and beach survey at Sea Palling. With a big group (12 students in Year 12) we were able to compare the wave energy and beach profiles of a protected section of coast and an exposed, unprotected section. They then investigated the landslide at Overstrand. Although 85m of coastal retreat occured between 1990-1995, the mix of cliff face and cliff foot strategies have successfully stabilised the coast, which has moved only 1cm since the management was carried out in 1996. After a look at the soft management strategies at Cley they went back to Sheringham Youth Hostel to write up notes and analyse measurements. The following day, we took a look at the seals from the ferry, before investigating pebble shape and size along Blakeney Spit.
