Year 11 transition day
On Wednesday 29 June our current Sixth Form students and members of staff welcomed our Year 11 girls to the Sixth Form Centre, to induct them into life as Sixth Form students – as they will be from September. The Year 11 transition day commenced with an informal meeting between the Year 11 girls and the Senior Prefects, during which the Year 11 girls had a chance to ask questions about the Sixth Form experience before enjoying a school lunch with their Lower Sixth hosts.
In the afternoon, the Year 11 girls received an official welcome to the Sixth Form from Headmistress, Ms Charlotte Avery, the outgoing Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Karole Lewis, the new Head of Sixth Form, Miss Ruth Taylor, the new Deputy Head of Sixth Form, and Miss Victoria Handley - who also spoke to the Year 11 girls about various extra-curricular activities that await them in the Sixth Form (rowing, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award, the Ladies Who Lunch programme of speakers, to name a few) – and the new Head of Careers, Mrs Kate Mead. The Year 11 girls then participated in an empowering and motivational workshop on ’Finding your style’, delivered by professional stylist Sarah Gillmore. Mrs Gillmore equipped the girls with tools to increase body confidence and knowledge about the power of appropriate clothing and make up.
The day was capped off with afternoon tea, after which the girls enjoyed creating vision boards during an inspiring and though-provoking workshop with Tomi Ayodeji. At the end of the day each of the attendees was given a booklet to guide her through her summer preparation work for their A Level courses, as well as a personalised mug to be used in the Sixth Form Centre in September. We look forward to welcoming the girls properly into Sixth Form next year!
