Year 11 students get classical
On Friday 19 January our Year 11 Classical Civilisation students attended an Ancient Drama Festival, organised by the Classics Faculty at the University of Warwick. The trip provided the girls with a chance to attend a variety of lectures: learning about the ancient Athenian drama festivals, performance techniques, key themes of Greek tragedy, and what life was like for Ancient Greek women.
The students also saw a production of Euripides Medea, allowing them to appreciate the play as a dramatic performance. Mrs Rebecca Lyon, Head of Classics, said: "The girls greatly enjoyed the day and excitedly discussed what they had learned on the coach home. A few of the girls also told me that the play helped them appreciate the characterisation and tension Euripides created."
