Year 11 learn new skills at Employability Day
Year 11 had an interesting and informative Employability Day, where they learnt about CV drafting, had mock interviews and got feedback on them, and attended sessions on Age Relevant Financial Awareness and Apprenticeships vs. Higher Education. It was a valuable opportunity to meet and learn from local businessmen and women from a range of local and international companies, including alumna Rebecca Osmaston, who now works as a Corporate Sustainability Analyst at PwC.
Since leaving St Mary's in 2010, she has studied Geography at Exeter University, had a Year Abroad in Australia and then started working in Cambridge for PwC. We caught up with her briefly in between the sessions she was helping to run on Apprenticeships vs. Higher Education.
She said: "What I loved about St Mary's were the fantastic opportunities there, such as D of E and the sports teams. There is a real sense of community; it's a relaxed and friendly place with really great staff who care. I love that even though I left 8 years ago, staff still recognised and greeted me!
My Geography degree and interest in Sustainability was inspired by my Geography teachers at St Mary's."
