Year 1 thrilled by a visit from the Raptor Foundation
Year 1 are reading the Edward Lear poem "The Owl and the Pussycat". After lots of discussion about the characters they realised that they didn't know very much about owls. Fortunately the Rapter Foundation came to visit us this week. We had a white-faced owl, a tawny owl, a barn owl, a spotted eagle-owl and a hawk all sitting on the floor in the hall. The girls were able to stroke the owls and watch an amazing display as the owls flew round the hall. The eagle owl refused to fly and strutted around the hall making funny little noises, causing lots of laughter. The girls asked all their questions and are now writing non-fiction books about owls.
