Y9 visit to Grafham Water
When we arrived in Grafham Water our first activity was the Grafham Challenge. The Challenge was to complete an obstacle course blindfolded while relying on your friend's guidance, we were all blindfolded however every second one of us could speak! This really brought us together as we got to know girls we might not have before and guide each other through the course. Next, we tried the high ropes. Although some people were scared at the start everyone managed to give it a go and we all cheered each other on! To raise the person two people had to stay on the ground pulling on the rope. With your classmates being able to drop you at any moment meant you really had trust them. Thankfully no one fell!
After our lunch we went on to raft building, which was my favourite activacty. We split into two teams and raced to build the better raft and then sail to the buoy. We pushed the rafts out onto the lake and climbed on. In the first minute almost all my team had fallen off and were soaking wet! Eventually I was the only one left on the raft and we were still racing the other team to the finish line. One of my friends offered to push me and the raft out to the buoy and our team all worked together to help her do so. We came close to beating the other team however they had managed to get all their members on to their raft! I really loved the exercise as I felt like my team worked well together and although we didn’t win it was great fun!
Overall, I loved the trip as our year group really bonded and got to know each other. It was the perfect time to get to know the new girls and to build on friendships with girls from other forms!
