Wellbeing Room opens at St Mary's Senior School

Wellbeing Room opens at St Mary's Senior School

The doors to our new Wellbeing Room at our Senior School are now open and ready to welcome students. The dedicated space will allow pupils to fully immerse themselves in a range of wellbeing activities and drop-in sessions to help support their mental health.

The space provides a relaxing atmosphere, with the decorations, lighting and furnishings all chosen by St Mary’s dedicated student-led Wellbeing Committee. With students' art on the walls, the soothing colours help create a calming and positive environment for students to take time out when needed.

There is a timetable of activities for students to participate in, including ‘drop in’ sessions for Years 7-11 and Sixth Form students. The Wellbeing Committee and Mental Health Coordinators will use the space on a Wednesday to host their weekly meetings and students can partake in some relaxing knitting on Thursday lunchtimes. There will also be a six-week mindfulness course starting next half term, which will take place during one lunchtime per week.

We will be adding lots more mindfulness activities over the coming weeks, and students are being encouraged to stop by to see what’s happening.

Meanwhile, the wellbeing teddy bear is waiting to find out his/her new name, which will be chosen soon from the entries to the naming competition...
