Weekend away for our boarders
This year’s boarders’ residential trip on 17 and 18 October was a weekend stay in the towns of Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick. The trip commenced with a tour of the birthplace of William Shakespeare in Stratford where the group discovered the fascinating roots of the famous playwright.
Following that, the group took a tour of Stratford, visiting the most famous gems of the town including Harvard House, Hall’s Croft, the once-home of Shakespeare’s daughter Susanna. The girls also visited the Gower Shakespeare memorial overlooking the River Avon and Holy Trinity Church where Shakespeare himself was baptised and buried. The walk provided splendid views of the riverside and picturesque thatched houses.
Getting into the Halloween spirit, the group visited Stratford’s The Attic Theatre, where they saw a production of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein on Saturday night, which provided a few funny frights!
The boarders then made their way to the Stratford Youth Hostel YHA situated at the beautiful Georgian manor, Hemmingford House, which sits on the outskirts of the town.
On Sunday, the girls explored Warwick Castle where they wandered around the castle’s stunning gardens, grounds, courtyards, towers and mounds, learning about its rich, exhilarating history.
