Visit to The Fitzwilliam Museum
Year 3 spent an enjoyable morning at The Fitzwilliam Museum in the week before half term. It was a fabulous opportunity for the girls to see first-hand the incredible artefacts that have been preserved and displayed – including a marble coffin with amazing images of mythical creatures, gods and goddesses, much merrymaking and chariots. They then looked a little closer at the images to follow the story depicted on the surface, and to find a list of objects. Once they had found the required objects, the girls listened to a story about an ancient pot, and were then asked to think through for themselves the process of making a pot: beginning with digging the clay, and leading to marketing and displaying the pot in the shop.
