UCAS day provides insight and support for Y12
Year 12 students took part in a UCAS day. Although our students have had advice, guidance and events all year, UCAS day marks the beginning of the formal decision making and application process for post 18 options. We have been fortunate to have been well supported by the University of Cambridge and Lancaster University.
Dr Keri Wong (Betty Behrens Research Fellow, Clare Hall Cambridge, Department of Psychology) was our keynote speaker. She spoke to our students about following their passions and how a journey may take unanticipated twists. Her advice about what universities are looking for in candidates was also greatly appreciated.
Joey Akrigg joined us from Lancaster University. Having had Joey visit us before we were delighted to be able to welcome him back to St Mary's. Our students have benefited from his very thorough an accessible insights into and advice about choosing a university and writing a personal statement.
Alongside these speakers, all students have created a UCAS account, had time to begin their Personal Statement and evaluated where they are in the process of decision making.
