U16 netball team undefeated and crowned Cambridgeshire U16 County Champions
Our Under 16 netball team competed in the Under 16 County Netball Tournament at The Perse School on Saturday 11 November. Winning seven of seven matches, the U16 team was crowned Cambridgeshire U16 County Champions and has qualified to represent Cambridgeshire at the East Regional Competition in January 2018.
Captained by Anya F. (Year 11), the team consists of Year 11 students Amy T., Nicole T., Florence B-C. and Year 10 students Cristina H-P., Miranda E., Grace K., Maiya F. and Ruby G.
All members of the team played well throughout the tournament, showing a high skill level of shooting, attacking and defending to score a total of 89 goals and letting in just 28. Amy was voted as the team’s player of the tournament for showing great determination and working hard in every match, finishing passages of play with confident and accurate shooting. After some closely fought matches the team finished the competition undefeated.
The team qualified for the county tournament back in October, winning three of three matches at the Cambridge Independent Schools tournament (against Stephen Perse Foundation, 9-5; The Perse School, 11-3; and King’s Ely, 14-3) to be crowned Cambridge Independent Schools Under 16 Champions.
County champions, the team now heads to the East Regional Competition in January 2018 to represent Cambridgeshire – well done to all of the players!
