The A to Z of making the most of the summer
St Mary’s School, Cambridge Sixth Form students will be engaging in an exciting A to Z of activities over the summer break, ranging from work experience in Architecture, Archive work and Accountancy to volunteering in a Zoo! In between, students are set to experience:
- Banking in Hong Kong
- Caring in the community, at Wood Green Animal Shelter, nursery schools, and elderly care homes
- Dentistry at Brookfields Dental Surgery
- Engineering with WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff on Hills Road
- France - a work experience placement in France arranged with Halsbury Travel
- Gilbert Galleries Collection refurbishment at the V&A Museum
- Hospital work, at Addenbrooke’s Anaesthesia Department
- IT, through a placement in the Cryptology Department at Thales, Cambridge
- Joint Colleges Nursery, Chaucer Road, Cambridge
- King’s College London – a taster course programme
- Lourdes – a volunteering working party of Lower Sixth students
- Music masterclass at Llandovery College, Carmarthenshire
- National Citizenship Service
- Occupational Therapy in care homes
- Playscheme internships with the University of Cambridge, held at our own Junior School
- Queen’s consort - The Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award expedition is taking place in Wales this month
- Research at Convergence Pharmaceuticals Ltd
- Sharks – one lucky girl is going to Fiji to work on a conservation project with sharks
- Teaching, at St Paul’s Church of England Primary School
- University of East Anglia Summer School
- Veterinary work at Cambridge Veterinary Group
- Working all over the world, from Cambridge and London, to Hong Kong, China, France and Thailand
- Young Persons Volunteering Programme at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
