Swan-Boy author alumna inspires creativity
On Tuesday 17 May Year 8 English students and Creative Writing scholars were delighted to welcome to school author, and alumna, Mrs Nikki Sheehan. Author of Swan Boy and Who Framed Klaris Cliff, Nikki delivered a captivating talk to the students about her journey to becoming a successful author, providing the girls with plenty of practical tips to use in their writing. Nikki also led a writing workshop with the Creative Writing scholars, inspiring them to write collaboratively about imaginary friends; the ensuing tales about a Hawaiian hypnotist boy (who used his orange and pink grass skirt as a means of sinister control!) were highly entertaining, as well as being impressively well written. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to hear from such an inspirational role model and alumna.
