Success for Ellie M. at the British Riding Clubs’ National Championships
On Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 May Year 8 student Ellie M. took part in the British Riding Clubs’ National Championships at Washbrook Farm in Northamptonshire. The weather provided an additional challenge for the riders as they were soaked, baked and then soaked again over the course of the weekend, but Ellie, as part of a junior team, finished second in the competition!
Ellie (and trusty steed Tommy) coped admirably with the busy atmosphere of the event. As part of a very supportive team, in which other members were all in their last year of competing in the junior category (and so are old hands at competition), everyone offered Ellie great advice and support. It was also positive to learn that Ellie was not the only St Mary’s School, Cambridge girl at the event, as the Team Manager and Team Coach for the Riding Team, Suzannah Engelmann and her sister Claire, are both Pastonians! Congratulations to Ellie and her horse Tommy for riding so well!
