Stone-carving scholars
On Tuesday 17 October, sculptor Mo Gardner visited the Art Centre to demonstrate to our Art scholars how to produce sculptures carved out of stone. Mo is an internationally renowned sculptor and her work has been exhibited in the US, Venezuela, Japan and several European countries. Her approach when carving stone is to “release what is trapped below the surface”. It was a fantastic experience for the girls as they learnt some interesting techniques as well as how to use a range of tools to carve a face out of stone.
