St Mary’s student donates hair to Little Princess Trust
A Year 2 student from St Mary’s School, Cambridge, has chopped almost 12 inches off her hair to donate to the Little Princess Trust and is also raising money to help the charity provide wigs to sick children.
Anya K. has donated her long locks in memory of two relatives: her Granny, who passed away from cancer before she was born; and her mother’s brother who also died of cancer at just four years old.
The Little Princess Trust is a charity that provides wigs to children with cancer, and other illnessses, to help restore their confidence and sense of identity. Anya was hoping to raise £500 for the charity but has already exceeded this target by collecting £1,445. These vital funds will ensure that the charity can continue to cover the costs of providing and fitting wigs.
Charlotte Avery, Headmistress at St Mary’s School, Cambridge, said:
“We are very proud of Anya’s incredible act of selflessness. Cutting off her hair to help those who are experiencing the devastating effects of hair loss is a truly remarkable thing to do and we commend your bravery.”
