St Mary's raises £300 for the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development
Friday 5 October was CAFOD (Catholic Agency For Overseas Development) Family Fast Day, one of the two days a year on which families are invited to eat a simple meal in order to express solidarity with people for whom hunger is a daily experience. The money saved is given to CAFOD to support their work of disaster relief and development projects. For example, they are contributing to the relief of suffering as a result of the Indonesian tsunami and are providing irrigation systems to farmers in areas of drought. Most members of St Mary's community opted to have soup and a roll for lunch on Friday and we were able to send £300 to give to CAFOD.
