St Mary's live on BBC Radio 4 Woman's Hour
St Mary's School is buzzing with excitement today after Headmistress, Charlotte Avery, and Sister Jane Livesey CJ were interviewed live on a national BBC radio programme to discuss the incredible life and lasting legacy of the school's namesake, the venerable Mary Ward.
Charlotte and Jane featured on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour programme, which has around 3.5 million listeners and is a hugely influential national radio show. The programme features stories about the lives of women worldwide - past and present - and aims to inform, inspire and challenge. The interview was organised to coincide with Mary Ward Day and gave Charlotte and Jane the opportunity to talk to presenter Anita Rani. In a ten-minute conversation they spoke in depth about Mary's fight to give women equal access to education, and how St Mary's School is keeping her legacy alive today.
