St Mary’s celebrates Speech Day at Junior School
On Tuesday 5 July our Junior School year groups came together, along with their families, to celebrate our annual Speech Day – an occasion that gives us the chance to commend our talented students’ academic achievements with a prize giving presentation and speeches.
A string ensemble set the tone for the afternoon with a performance of ‘Dances from around the World’ before everyone took part in an opening prayer. Our Head of Juniors, Mrs J Christian, welcomed everyone and delivered a reflective speech on the remarkable achievements from the academic year gone by.
We were delighted to welcome our guest speaker, Dr Amineh Hoti, who is the Director and Co-Founder of the Centre for Studies of Muslim-Jewish Relations at the Wolf Institute, Cambridge.
Guests were entertained by a musical interlude from Year 6, who performed their Leavers Song. It was then time for the presentation of prizes, which are designed to award students for their sustained attainment and continued commitment throughout the year.
Well done to everyone at St Mary’s Junior School for another outstanding year.
