St Mary’s Art department teachers discover more about sculptor Anthony Gormley
St Mary’s Art department recently took part in a Cambridgeshire Teacher’s event at Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge focusing on the work of sculptor Anthony Gormley. The evening consisted of a review of Gormley’s current exhibition at Kettle's Yard, and how it might be applied to education. Sofia Singer, an Architecture student in her 3rd year of study at Cambridge University, led a workshop during which we developed ideas about the ‘concepts’ of measurement and spaces, and also created life size self-silhouettes.
The event was a great opportunity to meet with fellow art teachers and Faculty leaders from the Cambridgeshire area, to discuss ideas relating to Art education and how important primary source experiences of Art are to our students.
Kettle’s Yard were extremely welcoming and allowed us to see their new facilities and think about ways in which we can encourage young people to visit gallery spaces.
