St Mary’s announced as finalist in prestigious national awards
St Mary’s School in Cambridge has reached the next round of the prestigious Independent Schools of the Year 2021 awards. The judges of the awards revealed their finalists on Tuesday 7 September – announcing that St Mary’s is one of just five schools in the running to be crowned Independent Girls School of the Year 2021.
The judges had a difficult job on their hands creating this year’s shortlist, with more than 700 nominations received across all of its award categories; a record number of entries. Nevertheless, St Mary’s impressed the distinguished panel of judges and now has a nervous wait to see if it will be crowned overall winner in the highly regarded Girls’ School category. Results will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony, which will be held on Thursday 7 October.
St Mary’s Headmistress, Charlotte Avery, said:
“We are over the moon to get through to the next stage of such a highly-regarded national award scheme. It’s an incredible achievement to kick start the new academic year. These types of awards are a real boost for staff and students alike. I am delighted that the first-class education experience we offer at St Mary’s has been recognised by our peers in the industry and we look forward to finding out the final result in October.”
The Independent Schools of the Year awards highlights education establishments that are delivering an excellent student experience. Organised by Independent School Parent Magazine, the awards are chaired by Dr Helen Wright, international education adviser and past Vice Chair of the ISC.
