Spring term netball off to flying start
St Mary's netball players did not waste any time getting back to practice after the Christmas break. While many of us were still groggily readjusting to the school routine, our Senior School students went straight back to pre-season netball training and our new Saturday sports morning. Their first fixture results show that their hard work is paying off.
On Tuesday 4 January we held our very first netball pre-season training session for Year 7 and 8 students at our Long Road Sports Ground. An impressive 33 students attended the session and developed their skills through a variety of games, skill practices and match play. We would like to say a huge thank you to our two Year 10 Sports Scholars, Honor C. and Sarah H., who came to help at the pre-season training session and were excellent role models, sharing their netball knowledge with the younger students in the school.
We are delighted to report that their training is paying off, as we have had an excellent set of results at the first fixtures. On Wednesday 12 January, the St Mary's 1st Team won against the Hills Road 2nd Team, 49-48. While on Saturday 15 January, our 1st Team beat The Leys' 2nd Team, 59-25.
We hope all our students continue to enjoy the training opportunities on offer at St Mary's, and wish the netball team the best of luck in their coming fixtures. You can find out more about sport at St Mary's here.
