Sport scholars keep their training on track over summer
A St Mary’s Sport scholar’s dedication does not stop during the summer holiday. Director of Sport, Miss Louise Powell, designed a series of six-week specialised Sport programmes and healthy recipes to keep the scholars’ training on track this summer.
The talented girls followed specially tailored exercise programmes, to hone their skills in Cricket, Netball, Hockey or Tennis. All the girls were also encouraged to take part in a thirty-day abs challenge and thirty-day plank challenge, working up to holding the plank pose for a strenuous five minutes. They kept motivated by sharing planking pictures and photos of the healthy recipes that were enjoying with their families.
The scholars were also looking after their minds as well as their bodies. All the girls were granted access to the Girls Go Gold Conference online, organised by the Girls’ School Association to support young women in sports. The students have been tuning in to a range of inspirational and informative talks by elite athletes, covering a range of topics, from careers in sport to resilience and wellbeing. We look forward to hearing more about their successes over the next year.
