Spitfires, helicopters, Falcons and fighter planes
Year 3 pupils had the most brilliant morning at IWM Duxford on Thursday 13 October. The girls tested their knowledge about aircraft, for instance Spitfires and helicopters, and learnt about planes including the Falcon and other fighter planes that refuel mid-air.
The girls were also keen to see bomb holdings, the Battle of Britain hanger and the use of the aircrafts in WWII, and to experience the thrilling feeling of going in a Concorde (via a simulator!). There was so much to see and learn, and Mrs Fiona McWilliam and Mrs Carolyn Johnson were very pleased with the level of the girls’ questioning – seemingly impressing the group’s knowledgeable guide!
As ever when you’re having fun, time ran away with the group and there is yet more to see and experience when the girls next visit the museum; it was an excellent trip and a good way to round off the girls’ learning on their topic – flight.
