Speed networking Sixth Form students
Our Lower Sixth students were invited to a speed networking event on Wednesday 25 January where they met with 20 professionals to discuss various careers. The event enabled the girls to explore different career options such as joining the Army, landscape architecture and Primary School teaching - and many jobs that they may never have considered previously or even heard of. This produced the perfect platform to ignite a real interest in new careers, which we feel is a great way for our students to approach this stage of their lives.
The event allowed each girl to spend four minutes with each visitor asking valuable, thought-through questions, from ‘how can you qualify for the role?’ to ‘what type of characteristics might you need to possess?’. The girls came away feeling very positive about the whole experience and said that it had proved very interesting. Thank you to our visitors for taking the time to speak to our girls about their careers.
As we often hear from visitors to school, our professional representatives commented on how engaged the girls were in the activity and how well they had thought of relevant and interesting questions. One alumna who had returned to school said: “it was great to pass on some of the experience and knowledge I have gained after having been a St Mary's girl myself.”
