Speech and Drama showcase
It is always fantastic to see our students performing with such assurance at the annual Speech and Drama showcase, which took place on the evening of Tuesday 28 February. Over 100 supportive and appreciative audience members attended and the girls particularly enjoyed sharing their work with family and friends as well as girls in other year groups.
It was an evening full of exceptional performances. The programme included classical poetry such as Rain In Summer, beautifully performed by Year 7 students Imogen C. and Medeea G.; dramatic and comical prose by way of The Boy In the Dress performed confidently by Year 7 student Bethany P.; and a deeply moving solo from Steel Magnolias performed by Upper Sixth student Caitlin J.
There were acting duologues that varied in style, from Rebecca performed with absolute conviction by Year 8 students India B. and Tindra B-H, and Acting Class performed with excellent comic timing by Year 9 students Mackenzie A. and Isabella R., to Present Laughter performed with a light 1930s wit and excellent diction by Year 10 students Francesca H. and Isobel B.
The feedback from parents was appreciative too:
"I just wanted to say thank you for such a lovely evening last night. It was really enjoyable watching everyone's personalities come to life on stage and great entertainment seeing such a diverse range of performances".
Our Speech and Drama tutor Mrs Kate Weber was extremely proud of all the students performing on the night, and those helping out back stage; they are all a credit to the school! View photos of some of the girls' performance here.
