Spectacular Summer Gala Concert wows audience
Congratulations to all the musicians who participated in Tuesday’s brilliant Summer Gala Concert. The audience were treated to a fantastic array of musical styles, from classical to film music, jazz to opera, all performed by a wide range of musical ensembles.
St Mary’s Young Musician of the Year Maryam G., mesmerized us with her spirited performance of the aria ‘Seguidilla’ from Bizet’s opera Carmen, accompanied by our Senior Orchestra, and in her final St Mary’s concert, outgoing Year 13 musician and Music Scholar, Ava L. performed one of her own songs ‘Superglued’. The evening featured performances from all our large-scale ensembles: Senior Orchestra, Training Orchestra, Concert Band, Training Wind Band, Jazzmatazz, Cantore, Allegro and Year 7 Choir. Other highlights included Allegro’s atmospheric and entrancing performance of Bob Chilcott’s ‘God of the Open Air’ and new Music Scholar Sophia K’s mesmerizing harp solo.
Once again, we congratulate our Music department for another outstanding concert and thank all our staff who supported the event.
