Sixth Form students take part in race for Alzheimer’s Research UK
Upper Sixth Form students Amy H. and Niamh B. will be taking part in the Cambridge Half Marathon on 17 October to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Both girls feel strongly about helping to advance Alzheimer’s research and wish to contribute to the cause. Amy is motivated further by her experience of how Alzheimer’s has affected her family: ‘Like many people, my grandma has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s so fundraising for the cause has become even more important for me personally.’
Their training has also helped to take their sport to the next level. Amy has been running regularly for some time and has already completed a half marathon this year, while Niamh has only been running since May. She says she has loved training and taking her sport to the next level for the half marathon: ‘I’ve had a massive sense of achievement doing a long-distance race after only six months of running!’.
We wish them every success in their training and race.
