Senior Maths Challenge
On Tuesday 8 November 32 of our Year 11 to Upper Sixth students took part in the Senior Maths Challenge. It is a great experience for each of the girls involved, as they are able to attempt a variety of types of mathematical problems in an environment that is free from the pressure of ‘public examinations’. 19 of the girls achieved certificates for having performed so well in the challenge. Tianyi Z., Iris H., Daisy M., Zoe G., Rebecca L., Kiko L., and Gigi D., all Year 11, were all awarded Bronze certificates, and Lucy T. was awarded the Silver certificate.
Of our Lower Sixth girls, Roca C., Jacqueline L., and Jesslyn F. were awarded Silver certificates, and Shirley C. the Gold certificate. Titania H., Megan W., and Lucy W. were also awarded Gold certificates, and performed so well that they have been invited to go through to the Kangaroo challenge, which takes place on 2 December. Rose Z. and Selena Y. were also awarded Gold certificates, and in fact were so proficient that they have been entered for the BMO1 challenge, a three and a half hour written challenge, which also takes place on 2 December. Selena earned the ‘Best in school’ accolade.
In the Upper Sixth, two girls achieved the Bronze certificate – Coco I. and Kelly Y. – and Coco Z. was awarded the Silver certificate and the ‘Best in year’ (in the school) accolade.
Well done to all of the girls who took the challenge, and we look forward to updating you on how the girls do in their Kangaroo and BMO1 challenges in December.
