Salters' Challenge at University of Cambridge
The Salters' Festival of Chemistry, in partnership with the Royal Society of Chemistry, organised a one day event for Year 7 and Year 8 students on Thursday 22 March, at the University of Cambridge, Department of Chemistry. A team of four Year 8 girls were given a previously unseen Chemistry challenge to solve in the allotted time. The girls worked through two practical challenges in the laboratory - the Salter's Challenge and the University Challenge - and then attended a fun demonstration lecture in the afternoon given by Dr Peter Wothers, titled It's a gas. The St Mary's School, Cambridge team won 1st prize for the Salters' Challenge - congratulations to Elizabeth A., Amelie A., Medeea G. and Lucy M.
