Prize Giving gets to the HEART of the matter

Prize Giving gets to the HEART of the matter

This year’s Prize-Giving at the Senior School was opened by Head Girl, Cecilia V-F. She introduced the speakers and performances with aplomb, showing the younger students what it means to act with the self-assurance and confidence that they too will be encouraged to find within themselves.

A remarkable performance from the music Scholar, Hannah F., of Paganini’s 24 Caprices, Op.1: No. 16 in G minor for solo violin captivated the audience as much as any full orchestra could do. And in her last St Mary’s Prize Giving, Headmistress, Charlotte Avery, reflected up on her 17 years of service, and on the continued commitment of the School to the education of girls.

Prizes were awarded based on the HEART values which underlie everything that St Mary’s girls are and do: Hard work, Empathy, Adaptability, Responsibility and Thinking. Additional awards were awarded for going above and beyond, for outstanding commitment, and for excellence.

As we bring the academic year to a close, we are proud to honour the dedication and achievements of all our students. Seeing them develop in confidence, find their own voice, and enjoy their successes is, as ever, a true privilege and we would like to thank everyone - parents, staff, alumnae and the whole St Mary's community, for another excellent year.
