Pre-Christmas rowing update
At the beginning of December the Sixth Form rowers competed in two events: the Fairbairn Cup on Thursday 1 December and the Christmas Head on Saturday 3 December. At the Fairbairn Cup the crews finished 19th and 28th out of 40 novice crews, which set the girls up for a great event on the Saturday. At the Christmas Head, which sees crews race upstream from Chesterton to Jesus boathouse dressed in Christmas jumpers and festive costumes, the girls enjoyed the outing which provided a fun ending to the term for the rowers – as well as a memorable one, with the division unable to race - especially for short stay boarder, Clémence D., who heads back to Belgium promising to continue rowing.
Crews of younger girls have also enjoyed getting out on the water this term. Our new boat – the Maureen Greenwood – has enabled our younger girls to learn to row for the first time. You can read more about their first outings here - pictured is one group showing amazingly good stroke work – we are excited to have some very talented junior oarswomen!
