Positive impact of safe Internet use

On Tuesday this week it was Safer Internet Day and, through the Sixth Form Ladies Who Lunch session, students had the pleasure of meeting alumna Lizzie Duckworth, who has launched a new website, www.cambscene.com. The website has been created by Lizzie to highlight and celebrate all the free and fun things to do in Cambridgeshire for young people. Lizzie spoke to the girls about her intentions for the new website, the process involved in setting up the service, and the additional influence of social media in promoting the venture. The group was also introduced to the work of a number of inspirational and local bloggers and vloggers, and encouraged to make the most of the many free events Cambridge has on offer. The session provided the girls with an excellent opportunity to discuss the positive impact of the Internet whilst also reflecting on the importance of staying safe online in the wider context of Safer Internet Day.
