Our intrepid explorers complete Duke of Edinburgh's Award expeditions
On 10 October, 32 Year 10 and 7 Year 12 students set off to do their Silver and Gold practice expeditions. Both groups started at Edale, but the Golds headed north into the Dark Peak areas and the Silvers headed south into the White Peak. The weather conditions on Thursday and Friday were very challenging with lots of rain, mud and wet boots, but the girls showed great resilience and determination, and enjoyed drier weather on Saturday. Silver routes took in places of historical interest such as the plague village of Eyam, as well as opportunities to experience the distinctive characteristics of upland Britain, which linked well into topics the Year 10 geographers have been studying this term. The expeditions finished successfully in Bakewell and the girls have certainly earned their half-term break. Thanks go to Mrs Shercliff and her team leading the Silvers and to Mrs Brown for leading the Golds.
