Mrs Sue Brown’s singular achievement
Our rowing coach, Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award co-ordinator, and teacher of Mathematics, Mrs Sue Brown is herself a regular rower, and those who are familiar with Mrs Brown will recall many previous accomplishments in competitive rowing. We were pleased to hear from Mrs Brown on her return from the National Masters Rowing Championships at Holme Pierrepont Nottingham, at which she competed in a new age category Mas E (55+), in a single again. It was rather windy, and warm, but Mrs Brown kept relaxed and crossed the line with another competitor in a course record time for the age group. The final was a tough line up and Mrs Brown was on course to finish third, but managed to sprint to the finish line first to become this year's WE1x National Champion. She also raced in a quad and an eight, both of which were incredibly close races too, but this time both crews came in third. Congratulations Mrs Brown!
