Morgan T.'s up for the finals
From Friday 20 May to Sunday 22 May Year 9 student, Morgan T., took part in the ladies golfing Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire County Championships, at St Neots Golf Club. Morgan, who is a member of Gog Magog Golf Club, Cambridge, where she trains and has golf lessons every week, played a 36 hole qualifier on the Friday before competing over the weekend. On Saturday Morgan completed 18 holes of matchplay and won, followed by 18 holes of matchplay in the semi-finals on Sunday – where she narrowly missed victory at the 18th hole, missing out to an experienced county veteran.
Despite the loss, Morgan was grateful to be able to play with experienced players who challenged her to improve her technique. Although tiring and demanding, the championships were a fantastic opportunity for Morgan and she is looking forward to competing again next year. In the meantime, Morgan will be participating in a number of Open competitions around the country during the summer break, as well as playing in the East Region Girls Championships. Morgan is also currently waiting to hear whether she has made it into the Junior Girls Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire County 1st team to represent the county in the East Region. Best of luck to Morgan in all her upcoming golfing endeavours!
