Miss Powell becomes new Director of Sport
We are delighted to announce that Miss Louise Powell is the new Director of Sport at St Mary's School, Cambridge. Louise has been promoted to her new position to help St Mary's drive forward the next stage of our inspiring and ambitious strategy for sport.
We asked Louise about her ambitions in her new role:
"The schools sport for all ethos is very important to me, and as a department we want to make sure that all the girls at St Mary’s have the opportunity to play and participate in a range of sports.
My vision is to continue to develop this strong sporting ethos, core values and a love of sports that runs from our Junior School through to our Sixth Form. I want to strive for every pupil to participate and to leave school with a positive experience of sport, developing lifelong interest and lasting enjoyment in a sporting activity that will foster good habits long into adulthood.
My ambition is to nurture a sporting culture where all the girls have fun, strive to improve and all excel at whatever level they aspire to. I want to continue to encourage pupils to pursue their own sporting interests alongside representing the school in fixtures and competitions.
The overall aim of the sports programme is based on enjoyment, learning, participation and performance. I am excited to take on the role of Director of Sport and lead sport forwards at St Mary’s, working closely with the excellent teaching and coaching staff in the department. This is an exciting opportunity to build an outstanding programme of sports and physical education, and I am looking forward to the impact this will have on present and future St Mary’s girls."
