Ladies who lunch
On Tuesday this week our Sixth Form students enjoyed the second ‘Ladies who lunch’ session. The guest speaker was Nadia Khan, who, having just returned from China where she spent the year teaching English as a foreign language, was able to share her experience on teaching languages and taking a year abroad. Nadia's advice and tips on how to organise and manage an opportunity to teach English abroad resonated well with the girls, a lot of whom are thinking of either working abroad or teaching English as a foreign language during a gap year.
The advice given ranged from practical aspects of dealing with money and visa issues, to emotional struggles due to language barriers and being away from home. The next session, on 20 October, will feature Ellen Russell from the English School of Business and Social Etiquette who will share her tips on how to behave in social and business situations.
